Tiffani Teachey is a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Westinghouse Electric Company with over seventeen years in the energy industry. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, as well as a Masters of Science degree in Engineering Management, both from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Tiffani is a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Advocate who strives to educate young children and parents about the importance of STEM careers and representation in those industries. She is the award-winning author of children's book, “What Can I Be? STEM Careers from A to Z”, available in Spanish, French, and Swahili, coloring and activity book, and teacher's guide.
Tiffani has received numerous awards and recognitions such as the 2021 UNC Charlotte Alumni Distinguished Alumni award, 20 Under 40 South Carolina Black Pages, Phenomenal Woman of the Year, Annie T. Doe Raising Our Children Humanitarian award, UNCF Women Who Lead award, UNC Charlotte Black Alumni Chapter Leadership Excellence in STEM, National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Alumni Member of the Year, and Who’s Who in Charlotte Emerging Leader, and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Distinguished Engineering Service award. She has been featured on FOX, CBS, and NBC.
Tiffani is a member and leader in various organizations such as Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., The Links, Inc., and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). In addition to serving on the Board of Advisors for UNC Charlotte's William States Lee College of Engineering, she has also served on UNC Charlotte’s Black Alumni Chapter Board and as the Diversity Chair for UNC Charlotte’s College of Engineering Alumni Council Board.
Tiffani enjoys promoting engineering because as an engineer she is making a difference and impact. She was able to participate in a Math & Science Saturday program in high school which inspired her to go into engineering. Tiffani has a passion for inspiring the next generation to engage in STEM careers, enjoys traveling and being a youth mentor.
