Dr. John Daniels and his students in the William States Lee College of Engineering, in conjunction with IDEAS Center senior fellow Christopher Hardin, have been researching the leachability of fly ash, a by-product generated by coal fired power plants. Dr. Daniels' research is helping to validate new EPA testing methods, and helping the power industry find new methods of storing and re-using coal ash in appropriate, sustainable ways.
