CLT and UNC Charlotte partner for first-in-nation sensor system

The Charlotte Business Journal reported on UNC Charlotte’s partnership with Charlotte Douglas International Airport to install 2,000 sensors in CLT’s new fourth parallel runway. The $6.5 million project will create a digital twin of the runway to provide real-time pavement performance data to the FAA—the first instrumented runway of its kind in the nation.
