Change of Major Process
An undergraduate student may change from one degree program or college when space is available. Most colleges and programs have different policies and requirements for accepting new majors. Some majors may have limited space and therefore have very competitive requirements. It is important that students work with the appropriate department to submit their change of major request.

Advised by Major Departmental Advisor
Students who are advised by their major department and are interested in changing to another Lee College of Engineering degree program must contact the new major department or visit their website for admission eligibility and instructions on how to initiate the change of major.
Students wishing to change to a non-Lee College of Engineering major must visit the new major department or the University Advising Center (Colvard North 2200) to complete the Change of Major process.
Non- College of Engineering Majors
Current students who seek eligibility to declare a major in the Lee College of Engineering are required to:
- Complete the First-Year curriculum of the program of interest.
- Achieve an overall GPA
- 2.50 for Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Systems Engineering
- 2.80 for Mechanical Engineering
- 2.20 for Engineering Technology and Construction Management
- Have no more than two attempts per course, including withdrawing from a course with a grade of W.
Students Seeking Eligibility for a Change of Major
- Should continue to be advised by their current advisor
- Should focus on successfully completing courses that count towards the program of interest and not rely on grades in unrelated courses to elevate the GPA.
- Are not permitted to enroll in Sophomore engineering courses.
- May request access to enroll in first-year College of Engineering foundational courses via a UCOL advisor or via a request to the College of Engineering Advising department, if not in UCOL.
Students may request admission to an engineering program after satisfying all the above requirements. Review the major/department’s website for more details on the declaration of major process.
