Senior Design Program

Students working on a project in the Industrial Solutions Laboratory

The W.S. Lee College of Engineering’s Senior Design Program brings together students and industrial partners in a collaborative research environment. As they tackle real-world engineering projects in the Industrial Solutions Laboratory, powered by Lilly, the students and their industry supporters are afforded unlimited possibilities for learning and achievement.  Our engineering and engineering technology students develop critical skills while working in multi-disciplinary teams tackling problems in civil, computer, electrical, industrial and systems, and mechanical engineering.

Eighty-six percent of projects are industry funded and mentored

“My fellow aspiring engineers and I were entrusted by our industry partner, Atrium Health, with an important orthopedic issue: repeated shoulder dislocations. Our goal was to gather valuable data on surgical techniques to reduce recurrent shoulder dislocations. We applied the knowledge gained in class to develop a real-world solution to a pressing issue.”
