Bombik interviewed for expert insight on battery life

WSOC-TV interviewed Anthony Bombik, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, about how to extend the life of cell phone batteries. Bombik and engineers at UNC Charlotte’s BATT CAVE research facility recommend charging phones only to the mid-80s and avoiding extreme heat, which can cause batteries to enter thermal runaway and potentially catch fire.
