Niner builds app to demystify car repairs

Kiss 95.1 featured Colton McComas, a 2026 mechanical engineering graduate of the William States Lee College of Engineering, and his mobile app Fixxr, which helps drivers identify car problems and spot overpriced repairs. McComas credited his engineering training for shaping the app’s design, noting that he built the diagnostic tool to reason through car issues rather than provide generic answers. He co-founded the startup with fellow engineering alumnus Thomas Spraker after connecting with entrepreneurship instructors at UNC Charlotte’s Dubois Center.
