Welcome to the electronic version of The William States Lee College of Engineering newsletter. This issue focuses on the college’s many energy-related activities. In the classroom, college of engineering students are preparing to become important players in the next generation of energy production. In research laboratories, college of engineering faculty are improving the efficiency of power generation, developing environmental solutions to energy-related issues, and creating alternative fuels. And working with industry partners, the college is advancing the growing strength of energy engineering in the Charlotte region. Stories in this issue focus on the people involved in our energy efforts, courses in which students are learning energy-related engineering, the new EPIC initiative, and research into alternative fuels and improving power plant efficiencies.
