Dr. Sireli Named ASEM Fellow and Secretary

The American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM) has named Dr. Yesim Sireli, associate professor of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management in the Lee College of Engineering, as a fellow of the Society and Secretary for 2020-2021.

ASEM Fellowship is the highest honor given to a member. Inductees are chosen according to their distinguished service to the Engineering Management profession, accomplishments in the field of engineering, and for their service and contributions to the Society.

ASEM members have also elected Dr. Sireli as the 2020-2021 ASEM Secretary. In this position, she will serve as a member of the Executive Committee and voting member of the Board of Directors. This is a four-year progressive term to President-Elect (2021-2022), President (2022-2023), and Past-President (2023-2024).

As the International Director of ASEM, Dr. Sireli has organized and been moderating the popular 2020 ASEM International Webinar Series. As a UNC Charlotte faculty member, she also has a number of ties to research centers, universities and other contacts around the world, which led to her organizing and hosting the Southeast – International Innovation & Commerce Summit: Energy, Ocean Economy and Sustainable Development in Charlotte in 2019.

A UNC Charlotte faculty member since 2003, Dr. Sireli focuses on systems analysis and value-added decision analysis using interdisciplinary approaches to problem-solving, particularly for sustainable development.

The American Society for Engineering Management is a global professional society dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the engineering and technical management profession. Engineering Management, broadly defined, is the art and science of planning, organizing, allocating resources, and directing and controlling activities that have a technological or systems component.
