NCInnovation awards pilot grant to Kamalasadan

Sukumar Kamalasadan, Duke Energy Distinguished Professor of Electric Power Engineering, has been selected to receive a grant by NCInnovation. He is one of only eight UNC System faculty to receive this award. 

Kamalasadan’s research will focus on power grid efficiency, uninterruptible power supply and higher power quality. His work will address situations where prolonged power outages could cause economic, health, environmental or public safety problems. 

Kamalasadan serves as the director of the Power Energy and Intelligent Systems Lab within EPIC and has secured more than $13 million in grants from federal agencies, national labs and industry partners. eral other industries.
