Donating Protective Equipment

Categories: General News Tags: Departmental News

With campus laboratories closed for the semester, Lee College of Engineering Facility and Laboratory Safety Engineer Eric Huhn decided to try and make the best use of surplus personal protective equipment (PPE). He put out a call asking faculty and staff from across campus for protective gloves and masks, and ended up with a trunk load of supplies for donation to the UNC Charlotte Student Health Center.

“In just a few days my office was filled with PPE from faculty wanting to help our community,” Huhn said. “In coordination with the Student Health Center, the supplies were added with any other PPE donations from across the university. The SHC is in contact with area Emergency Management and Atrium Health to coordinate the distribution of donated and surplus PPE.”

Any other faculty or staff wishing to donate additional materials (especially face protection: face shields, respirators/masks, etc) can contact Emily Stewart, Emily.Stewart@uncc.edu, Associate Director of Clinical Services at the SHC, to arrange drop off.
