Niner Engineers Tackle Deep Seated Challenge
Building car carriers will be more efficient thanks to the hard work of a team of Niner Engineers. As part of their senior design project, the seniors worked with Charlotte-based Fontaine Modification over the last year to develop a device that will improve efficiency when removing seats from Freightliner MD 114SD and M2 trucks as they are converted for use as car carriers.
49ers Racing clinches record-breaking 2nd place overall in international FSAE competition
Charlotte’s 49ers Racing team finished second overall among 113 of the world’s best teams at this year’s Formula SAE Internal Combustion competition held May 8-11 at Michigan International Speedway. The result is the best in program history, with the team also earning impressive rankings in multiple events.
NCInnovation awards pilot grant to Kamalasadan
Sukumar Kamalasadan, Duke Energy Distinguished Professor of Electric Power Engineering, has been selected to receive a grant by NCInnovation. He is one of only eight UNC System faculty to receive this award.
At NASA competition, 49er Miners win 1st place in Presentation and Demonstrations
UNC Charlotte’s Astrobotics Team, the 49er Miners, won first place for Presentation and Demonstrations in the NASA Lunabotics Challenge held on May 17 at Kennedy Space Center. The team, which has earned an award in the competition for the past four years, finished 11th overall this year.
