Thirty students have been selected for the W.S. Lee College of Engineering Leadership Academy, a two-year program modeled after leadership training programs for young professionals in industry.

Niner Engineer Felix Ekuful, in the M.S. in Construction and Facilities Engineering program, just returned from an internship at Oak Ridge National Lab with a fresh perspective and deeper understanding of building technology.

Dr. Christopher Bejger, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, teamed with Dr. Lin Ma, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering, to successfully achieve the first multi-disciplinary research collaboration by the Battery Complexity, Autonomous Vehicle and Electrification Research Center (BATT CAVE).

In February of 2024, the College of Engineering Faculty Organization voted to implement a common first-year curriculum for all College of Engineering students.

UNC Charlotte’s William States Lee College of Engineering is again among the nation’s top graduate engineering programs, according to rankings released by U.S. News & World Report on June 18.

UNC Charlotte’s 49er Rocketry Team again finished among the top winners, placing third overall in the 2024 NASA Student Launch Competition.

Austin Stitz, a rising sophomore majoring in electrical engineering and a member of the University Honors Program, is one of only 42 U.S. students selected to study as part of the prestigious Fulbright UK Summer Institutes. 

Building car carriers will be more efficient thanks to the hard work of a team of Niner Engineers. As part of their senior design project, the seniors worked with Charlotte-based Fontaine Modification over the last year to develop a device that will improve efficiency when removing seats from Freightliner MD 114SD and M2 trucks as they are converted for use as car carriers.

Charlotte’s 49ers Racing team finished second overall among 113 of the world’s best teams at this year’s Formula SAE Internal Combustion competition held May 8-11 at Michigan International Speedway. The result is the best in program history, with the team also earning impressive rankings in multiple events.
