Enjoy access to the Creativity Lab, participate in hands-on projects, and take the ENGR 1300 course with fellow FLC students. Connect with peers, faculty, and resources designed to help you thrive in your challenging and rewarding engineering studies.

Building Your Engineering Foundation: The Common First Year (CFY) Curriculum

Your first year in the Lee College of Engineering is built upon the Core First-Year (CFY) curriculum, designed to provide you with essential knowledge and skills for success in most engineering disciplines.

Students majoring in Construction Management and Fire and Safety Engineering Technology will not follow the CFY curriculum. Instead, these students will take major-specific first-year courses taught by dedicated faculty within the Construction Management and Fire and Safety Engineering Technology programs, providing an immediate focus on their chosen field.

These CFY courses (for most engineering and technology majors) will provide you with a solid base upon which to build your specialized engineering knowledge in the years to come. These foundational courses include:

  • ENGR 1303: Engineering Visualization & Graphical Communications
  • ENGR 1300: Exploring Engineering & Technology with Success
  • ENGR 1301: Foundations of Math & Science for Engineering
  • ENGR 1302: Logic and Computational Problem Solving
