Investigating Tiny Microorganisms For Large Scale Implications
Increasingly, people wonder how to make their surroundings – like a home – healthier. Now, with empirical evidence and engineering technology, researchers are investigating this on a broader scale, for example, in large corporate buildings and hospitals. William States Lee College of Engineering Assistant Professor Jacelyn Rice-Boayue, along with colleagues from across campus and the state, are studying the environment inside buildings, detecting microbiomes and developing ways to keep our spaces healthier.

Valentina Cecchi Appointed Honorary Consul of Italy to North Carolina
Valentina Cecchi, associate professor and graduate program director in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been named honorary consul of Italy to the state of North Carolina. Cecchi was appointed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and endorsed by the U.S. State Department.
UNC Charlotte’S 49er Rocketry Club EARNS Top Spot in the NASA Student Launch Competition
UNC Charlotte’s 49er Rocketry Club took first place in the launch division of the 2022 NASA Student Launch Competition, securing the event’s overall No. 1 spot for the second year in a row and earning a $5,000 prize.
